M-Care Amethyst is situated in the Van Der Hoffpark suburb of Potchefstroom and licensed an acute private hospital to admit voluntary psychiatric patients. 

Location
M-Care Amethyst and M-Care Potchefstroom are located on the same premises at the corner of Hennie Bingle and Ametis streets, Van der Hoffpark,  Potchefstroom. The hospital is situated near an abundance of, restaurants and guesthouses for families and other visitors, as well as a convenient shopping centre nearby.

Facilities
The hospital provides free and secured parking, lounges and rooms with en-suit bedrooms, satellite TV, WiFi and air-conditioning. 

Patients are admitted into comfortable and beautifully decorated and semi-private two bed rooms with en-suite bathrooms. A limited number of private rooms with en-suite bathrooms are available on request at an additional fee.  Each patient room has an outside door giving access to  secure gardens and recreation areas. There are also a number of one-on-one therapy rooms, group therapy rooms and a well-equipped multi-purpose recreation gym.

The communal and garden areas provide opportunity for interactivity, which encourages patients to regain self-confidence in social situations.

​Patients are in the care of a multi-disciplinary team comprising psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and occupational therapists. The clinic was built especially for its purpose and care has been taken in the layout, furnishing and creation of specialised therapeutic spaces in order to create the most conducive environment possible.  We treat a broad spectrum of mental health issues, developmental disorders and crisis situations, assist in diagnosis, and advise on treatment plan going forward. Patients typically stay for a two-week period but this could be shorter or longer, depending on need and medical aid benefits.
